About Us
The Calhoun/Cleburne Children's Center, incorporated in 1991,is a member of the Alabama Network of Children’s Advocacy Centers and the National Children's Alliance. It is designed to receive complaints from law enforcement and Department of Human Resources (DHR) and conduct interviews for minors who are victims of physical, sexual, emotional, psychological or other forms of abuse. The Children's Center also assists the victims and their families by providing information concerning their legal rights, as well as, referral services such as counseling, group support, or crisis intervention. The Children's Center has three Master Level Counselors on staff to provide free counseling to child victims. Lastly, the center works to help keep the community aware of child abuse, particularly child sexual abuse, in an effort to prevent future acts of abuse against children.
